Considered an engineering triumph, Tillamook Rock Lighthouse commissioned
in 1881, took some terrible punishments from raging storms and giant seas
during its active years. Today it has been reconstructed and converted
into the world's first lighthouse columbarium, permanent storage for cremated
remains.
